Rome Exhibition Picasso The Sculpture

Dates: 24.10.18 - 03.02.19. Address: Villa Borghese, Largo Aqua Felix, 00197 Rome, Italy.

Spanish artist Pablo Ruiz Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the best-known figures in 20th-century art. However, he is less known for his sculpture, in fact he forbade his sculpture from being publicly displayed until the Sixties, even though the artist maintained a privileged relationship with this discipline. It was during his trip to Rome and Naples in 1917 that Picasso was able to confront himself for the first time in situ with the sculpture of Roman antiquity and with the Renaissance Period. The 'Picasso. The Sculpture' exhibition is on show in Rome at the Galleria Borghese from the 24th October 2018 to the 3rd February 2019. The exhibition takes into account his experience of contact with Italian art and the event presents 56 masterpieces of the great master made from 1905 to 1964, as well as unpublished photographs and videos that tell the context in which the sculptures were created.
