The Doria Pamphilj Gallery is one of Italy's largest privately-owned art collections and it is housed in the eponymous 'palazzo' which lies between the Via Del Corso and Via della Gatta streets in the historic centre of Rome. The collection began in the 16th century by four aristocratic families, namely the Dorias, Pamphiljs, Aldobrandinis and Landi, who through marriage became the Doria Pamphilj family. The collection comprises mainly of paintings, furniture and statues. Works of art include Caravaggio's 'Penitent Magdalene' and 'Rest on Flight to Egypt', Filippo Lippi's 'Annunciation' and Raphael's 'Double Portrait', and so forth. Entrance to the gallery is 10 Euros per person and it is open daily from 9:00am to 7:00pm (last entrance at 6:00pm).
