Address: Spanish Steps, Piazza di Spagna, 00187 Rome, Italy.

One of the most iconic and picturesque scenes in Rome is no doubt the area of the Spanish Steps, a popular meeting place and a great opportunity for a photo moment. The Spanish Steps are located in the heart of the historic centre and with Rome's main shopping area. In the summer they are filled with flowers and fauna to create a truly spectacular view. The steep steps start at Piazza di Spagna at the base and lead up to Piazza Trinità dei Monti which is dominated by a beautiful church, Santissima Trinità dei Monti and it is from this church that the steps get their name from in Italian (Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti). The stairway comprises of 135 steps in total, which was created by two architects, Alessandro Specchi and Francesco de Sanctis between 1723 and 1725. At the bottom of the square and in Piazza di Spagna is also where the Spanish Embassy is located, hence the origins in its name. Closest metro station: Spagna (line A/red).
