The Trevi Fountain in Rome (Italian: Fontana di Trevi) is the Eternal City's third most visited attraction with 3.5 million visitors every year coming to view it. It is the largest Baroque fountain in Rome and one of the most beautiful in the world. It was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and finally completed by Giuseppe Pannini in 1762. It is a highly ornate display that marks an ancient Roman aqueduct termination point, namely the Acqua Vergine. The aqueduct was 21 kilometres long but 19 of these were in fact underground. The Trevi Fountain is 26.30 metres high, 49.15 metres long and spills out 80.000 cubic metres of water every day.
