Italy is known worldwide for its creative flair and one of the best loved Italian designer creations is its haute couture. High fashion is synonymous with Italy and to celebrate a specific period of its success the MAXXI National Museum of the 21st Century Arts is holding an exhibition entitled Bellissima. Italy And High Fashion 1945-1968 until the 3rd May, 2015. The exhibition does not pretend to be a history of Italian high fashion during this post-war period, but it aims to recreate the atmosphere and the styles of a period that made an extraordinary contribution to the definition of the Italian identity within Italy, as well as on an international scale. Some of Italy's best known designers who together created the successful 'Made in Italy' label will have works on show, such as Lucio Fontana, Carla Accardi, Alberto Burri and famous designer companies, like Fendi, Pucci and Valentino. Italy's most famous jeweller, Bulgari, is also present with a selection of unique pieces displaying stylistic innovation and design.

Opening times: daily 11:00am to 7:00pm, except for Saturdays, open until 10:00pm and closed Mondays.
