Numbers. Everything That Counts, From Zero To Infinity Exhibition In Rome

The Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome is showing an interesting exhibition project dedicated to the world of numbers, in the broadest sense of the term. Entitled 'Numbers. Everything That Counts, From Zero To Infinity', the exhibitions runs until the 31st May 2015 and is curated by Claudio Bartocci. It aims to show the visitor the different roles that numbers play in our daily lives, how they may differ in different cultures and how society needs to quantify and measure. The exhibition also tries to make numbers and maths fun and to educate the visitor, regardless of his or her knowledge of numbers and maths.

The exhibition is divided into several modules:

  • 2. First steps: 1, 2, 3 …
  • 3. Counting gestures and figures
  • 4. A fascination with the irrational: √2 and Φ
  • 5. Calculation tools and machines
  • 6. The secret of the circle: π
  • 7. Measuring the world
  • 8. A new basis: e
  • 9. Imaginary numbers: i
  • 10. From zero to infinity
  • 11. The enigmas of prime numbers
  • 12. Our planet in numbers

There is also a selection of workshop activities for visitors of all ages, from children to adults, and for people of all degrees of mathematical knowledge. Visit the above website for further details.
